4. Data collection on our website

Some of our web pages use cookies. Cookies do not harm your computer or contain any viruses. Cookies serve to make our website more user-friendly, efficient, and secure. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser.

Most of the cookies we use are so-called session cookies. They are automatically deleted after your visit. Other cookies remain in the memory of your end device until you delete them. These cookies make it possible to recognize your browser when you visit the site the next time.

You can configure your browser to inform you about the use of cookies so that you can decide on a case-by-case basis whether to accept or reject a cookie. Alternatively, your browser can be configured to automatically accept cookies under certain conditions or to always reject them, or to automatically delete cookies when closing your browser. Disabling cookies may limit the functionality of this website.

Cookies which are necessary to allow electronic communication or to provide certain functions you wish to use (such as the shopping cart) are stored pursuant to Art. 6 paragraph 1, letter f of GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the storage of cookies to ensure an optimized service provided free of technical errors. If other cookies (such as those used to analyze your surfing behavior) are also stored, they will be treated separately in this privacy policy.

Server log files

The website provider automatically collects and stores information that your browser automatically transmits to us in "server log files". These are:
  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • IP address
This data will not be merged with data from other sources.

The basis for data processing is art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, which allows the processing of data to fulfill a contract or for measures preliminary to a contract.

Contact and inquiry form

If you register for a newsletter (see section 7) or for access to our partner portal ASC XCHANGE via the contact form, we will save the data entered in the form including the contact details you provide to process your inquiry and for any follow-up questions. We do not share this information without your consent.

We will, therefore, process any data you enter in the contact form only with your consent as per art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR. You may revoke your consent at any time. An informal e-mail making this request is sufficient. The data processed before we receive your request may still be legally processed.

We will retain the data you provide on the contact form until you request its deletion, revoke your consent for its storage, or the purpose for its storage no longer continues to exist (e. g. after fulfilling your request). Any mandatory statutory provisions, especially those regarding mandatory data retention periods, remain unaffected.

In addition to the contact forms treated as described above, our website uses simplified contact forms. The data transmitted with them is used exclusively to supply you with the requested information on one occasion. Your data in the form will only be transmitted to ASC by e-mail and not stored in any database. This generated e-mail is deleted as soon as the process is finished. Should you require further information, please fill in the contact form again, register for our newsletter, or send an e-mail to webcontact@asc.de.

5. Social media

Social media plug-ins (Like & Share buttons)

Our website does not use so-called social media plug-ins (e. g. of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or XING). The icons of the social media services used on our website are mere hyperlinks which lead you to the corresponding site. Upon clicking on the icons, you leave our website and the disclaimer of liability from this privacy policy is applied.

6. Analytics and advertising

Google Analytics

If you give your consent by clicking on the respective button in the data protection banner, this website will use functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics. It is operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google Analytics uses so-called cookies. These are text files that are stored on your computer and that allow an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

Google Analytics cookies are stored based on art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analyzing user behavior to optimize both its website and its advertising.

IP anonymization

We have activated the IP anonymization feature on this website. Your IP address will be shortened by Google within the European Union or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area prior to transmitting it to the United States. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a Google server in the US and shortened there. Thus direct reference to persons is excluded. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to assess your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide other services regarding website activity and Internet usage for the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with any other data held by Google.

Browser Plugin

You can prevent these cookies being stored by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser. However, we wish to point out that doing so may mean you will not be able to enjoy the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent the data generated by cookies about your use of the website (incl. your IP address) from being passed to Google, and the processing of these data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Objecting to the collection of data

You can prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will be set to prevent your data from being collected on future visits to this site: Disable Google Analytics.

For more information about how Google Analytics handles user data, see Google's privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de.

7. Newsletter & marketing e-mails

If you would like to receive our newsletter offered on the website, we require an e-mail address, the name of your company, if applicable, as well as your first and last name. This information allows us to verify that you are the owner of the e-mail address and that you agree to receive this newsletter. No additional data is collected and we use your data exclusively for this purpose and of course do not pass it on to third parties. Your data is processed on basis of your consent to data processing according to art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You can revoke your consent at any given moment, e. g. by clicking on the “Unsubscribe” link in the newsletter. Your data stored by us is then deleted. Any data processing activities carried out before a revocation of consent continue to be legal and remain unaffected by the revocation of consent.

Data entered in a contact form (e. g. to obtain documents such as whitepapers, studies, checklists, and marketing information) is equally processed on basis of your content to data processing according to art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR in order to provide you with the requested information or to enter into contact with you. Subsequently, we will save your data in our prospect database to be able to answer any questions you may have until you revoke your consent by mail or e-mail which is possible at any given moment.

If you would like to ensure that you only receive information from us that is of interest to you, you can give your additional and explicit consent to the storage of your data in several places. This individual-related profiling does not anonymize opening and click rates but associates them with the user profile (e-mail address, company, first and last name) of the data subject. Thus, the information whether the recipient has opened the e-mail or clicked on contained links is analyzed. This information is saved by ASC Technologies in a database operated by Mailingwork GmbH, Chemnitz, Germany, and processed for static assessment. In addition, the activity data obtained by means of profiling allow us to define target groups which will then be supplied with specific customer-oriented information.

Data which has been saved by us for other purposes or on a different legal basis – e. g. to perform a contract according to art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR – remain unaffected by the provisions above.

You generally have the option at any time to make use of your rights to access your data or to have them corrected or deleted. Once you have revoked your consent or have requested the deletion of your data, your core data (name and e-mail address) will be archived for up to another three (3) years restricted to the purpose of securing evidence.

If you have questions concerning data protection, please send us an e-mail to data.protection@asc.de.
